Joaquin Phoenix Named PETA’s Person of the Year
Happy 2020 to all of our Faux Addicts! The Joker star Joaquin Phoenix has been named PETA’s 2019 Person of the Year. Phoenix has been a vegan since the age of three and a long time supporter of the animal rights organization.
PETA recognized the actor for appearing on the organization’s “We Are All Animals” billboards in both New York City and Los Angeles. According to PETA’s president Ingrid Newkirk, “PETA is proud to kick off awards season by honoring his dedication to showing everyone that when it comes to feeling fear, pain, and love, a human being is no different from a hen or a hamster”. The vegan and animal rights activist makes it very clear that he does not want to cause pain to any living creature!
Phoenix always makes a modest effort to turn the spotlight away from himself and onto the rights of precious and loving animals. His documentary The Animal People is about animal rights activists uniting against powerful industry interests. The star’s partnership with PETA is paving the way towards a world free of animal cruelty.
Here at Faux Addict, we admire the three-time Oscar nominee’s devotion towards animal rights. We believe the Joker star is setting a great example of walking the vegan walk. The Faux Addict team has a strong feeling that 2020 is our year! Start off your new year by shopping our cruelty-free, vegan, and stylish faux fur apparel.
